Story

Karl

Karl is an award-winning chef, a world traveller, a self-taught artist and photographer, a certified yoga instructor and — by most accounts — uncommonly good company. He has covered roughly 22 percent of the world and considers this an embarrassing underachievement. He is currently procrastinating on a book he began writing eighteen years ago.

What drives him, above everything, is the belief that creativity is not a talent — it is a freedom. And that this freedom, once found, should never be surrendered.

He came back to Malta not to settle, but to share.

At 21, dancing to Sinatra at a glittering dinner somewhere he no longer remembers, Karl Mallia’s mother leaned across the table and told him something he has never forgotten.

” You always did it your way. “

Karlito’s Way

These islands have always been generous to those who slow down enough to receive them. Karlito’s Way was built as a frame for that generosity — a way of holding the light, the water, the food, and the people together in a single experience that feels, above all, real.

Every experience is designed around the conviction that the finest hospitality is not a service rendered, but an encounter offered.

The Collaboration

The experiences, the language, and the design of Karlito’s Way have been shaped in close collaboration with Joeaby Vassallo, a designer and strategist whose practice is rooted in identity, culture, and place.

Karl dreams in food. Joeaby dreams in senses and experience. What they have built together is something neither would have arrived at alone.
